From the training site to the Governor's Mansion. 🔨 We were elated to attend the signing of Executive Order #36 alongside two Hope graduates! As North Carolina works to expand affordable housing and grow its construction workforce, we're proud to be part of solutions that create opportunity, increase access, and help people thrive.

This is what On-the-Job Learning (OJL) is really about. Our Durham cohort is out on a real job site building skills in real time with experienced site supervisors guiding them every step of the way.

Yes, you may see more trainees on site than a typical crew. That’s intentional. OJL is designed for learning, not speed. It’s where trainees get hands-on practice, build confidence and safely learn while serving real communities.

Right now, they’re installing a ramp for a homeowner, improving accessibility while gaining skills that lead to long term careers.

Week two for our Raleigh cohort was all about getting hands-on! Our trainees spent the week building confidence while practicing with hand tools and learning foundational skills they’ll carry with them into the trades. From drills to hammers, there’s always something new to master. Which tool or trade skill have you always wanted to learn how to use? Let us know in the comments! 🔨

Big things happen when partnerships create opportunities.

Recently, Everblue partnered with Hope Renovations for a 4-day Weatherization Pre-Apprenticeship training for Hope grads and staff, equipping participants with hands-on skills that help lower energy costs, and improve home safety. Through this partnership, we’ve already trained more than 30 Hope folks, opening doors to new career pathways in the skilled trades and energy efficiency industry.

We’re grateful to Everblue for investing in our trainees and helping build brighter futures, one skill at a time.
