128 Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers Awarded 2026 Carolina Care Excellence | Department of Medicine 06/17/2026

Congratulations to the 128 Department of Medicine physicians and advanced practice providers who have been awarded a 2026 Carolina Care Excellence Award.

Each year, UNC hospitals administers the Press Ganey Medical practice survey to ask patients about the likelihood of them recommending their provider to friends and family. Providers with the highest recommendations are recognized with the Carolina Care Excellence award.

Congratulations to Cassi Frank, DrPH and Carlton Moore, MD, on each receiving a UNC center for Health Innovation pilot award!

With the award funding, Dr. Frank will lead a project focusing on a system-wide anticoagulation stewardship through Epic-enabled population monitoring. Dr. Moore will lead a project focusing on an AI-enabled dashboard to help with discharge barrier identification.

Janet Rubin and Larry Klein Establish Endowed Professorship in Endocrinology | Department of Medicine 06/09/2026

After silently embodying the UNC mission for decades, Drs. Janet Rubin and Larry Klein decided to cement their legacy with a transformative gift.

The internationally recognized physician-scientists will now pass on their enduring joy for discovery, mentorship, and lifelong learning through the establishment of the Rubin Klein endowed professorship which will be held by the chief of the UNC division of Endocrinology and Metabolism.
