Since its founding in 1960, the Chapel Hill Cooperative Preschool (CHCP) has been dedicated to providing a warm and loving environment in which children learn and play. After recognizing the need for quality daycare for very young children, CHCP expanded its program in 1997 and opened the Infant / Toddler Site. To bring its community closer together, CHCP built its own building where both sites moved in together in July 2020.

Camping is one of our favorite summer units! 🏕️

The Blue, Green, Rainbow, and Gold gatherings have all been studying the ins and outs of camping— from reading in the tent, roasting marshmallows over the campfire, cooking out over a grill, collecting sticks for the fire, building s’mores in a solar oven, painting a campfire, dressing up as forest animals, to tasting a yummy camping treat! 🍫⛺️🦝🤍

At CHCP, we love learning through dramatic play to build meaningful learning experiences! ☀️🌈

That’s what we believe here at Chapel Hill Cooperative Preschool! Research has shown time and time again that a play-based education strengthens children’s cognitive, social, physical, and language development. 🌈

Play allows our kids to practice their fine and gross motor skills, use their imagination, solve big and small problems, learn how to cooperate with others, grow their vocabulary, and more. ☀️ We love to play at CHCP!
