We’re continuing our introductions of the outstanding new members joining the UNC Center for the Business of Health Leadership Board!

Next up is David Pontius, Partner at WindRose Health Investors.

David joined WindRose in 2008 after working in the Healthcare Investment Banking Group at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., where he focused on strategic advisory, mergers and acquisitions, and public and private company financings. He currently serves on the boards of Healthmap Solutions, Shearwater Health, and Traditions Behavioral Health and brings extensive experience across healthcare investing, strategy, and governance.

A graduate of UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School, David returns to Carolina with extensive experience spanning healthcare investment, strategy, and governance. We’re excited to have him bring that perspective to the CBOH Leadership Board.

Please join us in welcoming David to CBOH!

Registration is now open for the 2026 UNC Business of Healthcare Conference! This year’s event, Choice at a Cost: Rethinking Healthcare Consumerism, will bring together leaders from across industry, academia, policy, and employer health to examine how greater consumer choice is reshaping healthcare—and the tradeoffs it creates for cost, quality, access, and value.

We’re also introducing a new conference experience this year. We’ll spend the full day together in UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School’s new Bell Hall, with one shared program designed to bring every attendee into the same conversations throughout the day.

With the new format, attendance will be limited, so we encourage you to register early! Early bird pricing is available through September 25!

Our conference website is now live, and we’ll continue adding speakers, sponsors, and other details as they are confirmed. Explore the event and reserve your spot: https://cboh.events.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/2026UNCBusinessOfHealthcareConference/

This Labor Day, we recognize the millions of people whose work keeps healthcare moving—from those providing direct patient care to those advancing research, managing operations, developing new technologies, shaping policy, and supporting healthier communities.

At the UNC Center for the Business of Health, we’re proud to help prepare and connect the people who will contribute to this work in the years ahead.

Wishing our students, partners, colleagues, alumni, and broader CBOH community a safe and restful Labor Day.

We’re excited to welcome several outstanding new members to the UNC Center for the Business of Health Leadership Board—and over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing them to the CBOH community!

First up is Dina Fifadra, Chief of Staff to the CEO of Amazon Health Services.

During a decade with Amazon, Dina has led teams focused on using technology to remove complexity, improve customer experiences, and create solutions for emerging business needs. Prior to joining Amazon, she spent more than 14 years with Procter & Gamble and Samsung, building a career around taking on ambitious, first-of-their-kind projects and developing high-performing teams and sustainable businesses.

Dina is also a proud UNC Kenan-Flagler alumna, holding a B.S. in Business Administration. We’re thrilled to welcome her back to the Carolina community in this new capacity and to have her experience and insight represented on the CBOH Leadership Board.

Please join us in welcoming Dina to CBOH!

What a great day at the 2026 UNC Healthcare Bootcamp! More than 80 undergraduate and graduate students from across UNC joined us Saturday for a full day exploring the business of health, the many career paths across the industry, and the people and perspectives shaping its future.

Throughout the day, students heard from healthcare leaders, explored different areas of the industry, connected one-on-one with professionals during our Speed Mentoring sessions, and had plenty of opportunities to ask questions and make new connections.

Thank you to every student who chose to spend their Saturday with us—and especially to the CBOH Leadership Board members, alumni, and industry partners who generously gave their time and expertise as speakers and mentors. Your willingness to share your experiences, advice, and perspective is what makes opportunities like this possible for our students.

We’re incredibly grateful for this community and for such a great day of learning and connection!

Join us on November 6th for the 2026 UNC Business of Healthcare Conference -- Choice at a Cost: Rethinking Healthcare Consumerism.

Healthcare consumers have more choices (and more control) than ever before. From AI-powered health tools and direct-to-consumer pharmaceuticals to telehealth and new models of care, the way people access and engage with healthcare is rapidly changing. But greater choice raises important questions: Who bears the cost? Does greater convenience mean better care? And is healthcare consumerism actually delivering greater value?

Leaders from across industry, academia, policy, and employer health will come together at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School to examine the tradeoffs between cost, quality, access, and choice—and what they mean for the future of healthcare.

We look forward to sharing more about this year’s speakers and programming in the weeks ahead. Stay tuned for registration and additional details!
