Maria Montessori celebrated more than 80 birthdays, but surely one of the best birthday gifts must have been a speech from a student on her 45th birthday, which happened on the closing day of a training course.

"I have gained a deeper respect for the child than ever before. I must also express something beyond simple appreciation—an admiration for the utter dedication of Dr. Montessori and the vision guiding her work. Without flattery, it is a revelation of genius joined to unremitting devotion to an idea. This is a lesson we can all learn. I feel I have learned it myself, and to me one of the greatest strengths of the Montessori System is that it opens the path of genius to the child."

Dear Colleagues, as Dr. Maria Montessori said, “The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind.” Today, this promise has never felt more urgent. We are called to create an education that nurtures peace, justice, and understanding. It’s our duty to equip young people not only to comprehend the world they are entering but to actively shape it. Climate denial, xenophobia, inequality, and nationalism threaten our shared future. We cannot let the past write the future; every day, we choose through our actions, our words, and our relationships what tomorrow will be. Together our focus on peace education is now all the more critical for the creation of a more just, equitable,and sustainable world .

A great day of networking and training at Barrie School for Advanced Montessori Studies! We came back with lots of new tools to implement in our classrooms.
