On the evening of Sunday, March 12, 1933, only eight days after his swearing in as the 32nd president of the United States, Roosevelt took to the airwaves for the first time. The nation was in the throes of its worst economic depression in history, and Roosevelt had to reassure the nation. Radio was the means to do so.
That broadcast was the first of 31 informal “fireside chats” that Roosevelt would deliver through a bevy of microphones from different stations and networks to an audience of millions of Americans brought together by the radio.

Did you know that we don't actually observe a leap year every four years? The Gregorian calendar uses some interesting rules to keep the calendar in sync with Earth's orbit around the sun.
This system is accurate to roughly 2.6 seconds per year—so there may be an extra leap day needed in the year 4000!
