So much gentle care happening in our classroom today! 🍼 Our friends practiced dressing their baby dolls, cradling them just right, and checking on their little feet 👣 Play like this helps build fine motor skills as they manage those tiny snaps and clothes, and nurtures early social-emotional development as they practice empathy and responsibility 💕 It's amazing to watch these caretaking instincts bloom so early! How does your little one show their nurturing side at home? Tell us below! 👇

Superhero training was in session in our classroom this week! 🦸‍♀️ Our friends grabbed masks and capes and jumped straight into imaginative play — one struck the perfect superhero pose 💥, while the other flew her cape around like she was ready to save the day 🚨 Dress-up play like this is a fantastic way to build social-emotional skills, practice role-play and storytelling, and stretch that ever-growing imagination 🎭 Who's your child's favorite character to pretend to be? Let us know below! 👇

This week, our Hippos told us all about the favorite parts of their body — and their reasons did not disappoint 😂 We heard about legs built for running fast 🏃, hair long enough for an Elsa braid ❄️, a knee proudly showing off its boo-boo 🩹, and a tongue perfectly suited for eating popsicles 🍭. Sharing these sweet, silly answers together as a class is such a fun way to practice self-awareness, language skills, and a little self-love along the way 💛 What part of your body is your favorite — and why? Tell us in the comments!

Our Bear Cubs and Raccoons turned the playground treehouse into their own outdoor adventure today! 🌳🐻🦝 Climbing up into the tree trunk builds gross motor skills and balance, while crawling through the tunnel and sliding to the landing sharpens coordination and spatial awareness. Whether tackling it solo or cheering each other on, every trip up (and down!) builds a little more confidence. 😄

What's your child's favorite thing to climb or slide down?

These Bunnies are already too cool for school! 😎☀️ Trying on sunglasses might look like pure fun, but it's actually big work — grasping and adjusting each pair builds fine motor skills, while all those bold colors and shapes spark sensory exploration (yes, even a taste test along the way 👄). Add in some serious crawling power across the room, and it's a full morning of discovery!

Unlike many other centers in our area, at The Goddard School of Chantilly - Westfields, the owners run the school! We are here every day. We've been open since 2003, and we remain as involved in the school today as we were 23 years ago. If you would like to meet the owners, contact us to set up a tour — we'd love to show you around.

The thing about a Goddard preschooler is they’re going to be curious. Keep the questions coming 👏

Personally, we’d hire them as videographers 📹

Kindergarten readiness can show up in everyday moments, not just big milestones. A few signals to notice:

1. They’re building confidence to try things independently. Examples: walking into a room first, asking for help, or giving something new a try.

2. They’re starting to recognize the letters in their name, even if they’re not reading just yet.

3. They’re showing care and responsibility at home. This could include things like helping pack a bag, feeding a pet, putting away toys, or getting through part of their routine with a little more ease.

Every child grows at their own pace - and readiness looks different for every family. Their preschool teachers can be a great partner in noticing strengths, celebrating progress, and helping you think through what comes next.
