Pixar's newest villain isn't a space emperor or a toy collector—it's a screen.

Toy Story 5 is tackling a challenge parents have been navigating for years: competing for a young child's attention in an increasingly digital world.

Today's toddlers and preschoolers are growing up in a world where screens and algorithms compete for their attention from an early age. Parents are navigating questions that didn't exist a generation ago: How much screen time is healthy? What happens when AI becomes part of a child's play experience? How do we make sure technology supports development rather than replacing the relationships and real-world experiences children need most?

The good news: young children still learn best the same way they always have, through play, exploration, conversation, and responsive relationships with caring adults.

As technology and AI become more common in children's lives, the challenge isn't choosing between technology and childhood. It's making sure childhood comes first.

Thankful for up to date regulations for childcare - 40 years in the making!

This week, Governor Walz signed into law major changes to how family childcare providers are regulated. The full comprehensive set of rules for family childcare providers is now in statute, included in the Omnibus Health and Human Services supplemental appropriations bill.

Children also practice patience and perseverance as they figure out how to make their structures stand tall or stay together. Working alongside friends encourages teamwork, communication, and sharing ideas.

In early childhood education, these hands-on experiences help children explore how things work while building confidence in their abilities.
