Today we honor the life of Nikki Giovanni. We stand in gratitude for her life and her words that inspired a generation and beyond of Black women and girls. We send love and light to those grieving her exit, and pray her rest is as peaceful as it is well deserved. Choose radical self love today, choose to love others today in her vision, and read her words.

This week we start off facing two realities in America, a Black Desi woman is the presumptive nominee of a major party, and Sonya Massey was killed in her home while reaching out from help from law enforcement. Those of us who hold identities aligned with both of these women, are battling with the internal struggle of being excited to see ourselves represented (although imperfectly) by someone who currently holds the second highest office in the land, and seeing ourselves in yet another murdered Black woman's reflection. Before we tackle the misogynoir, sexism, and racism that we will have to endure with Kamala's run, we first have to hold space and stand AGAIN against police brutality.
