π΄ Another great afternoon at Farm School! π
Today our young farmers took on the role of Horse Vets for the Day!
We started by feeding the horses dinner, checking on our growing chicks, and making a quick visit to the goats before escaping the heat back to the barn.
Then it was time to learn how to care for a horse! The kids explored a real equine first aid kit, listened to a horse's heartbeat with a stethoscope, learned about TPR (temperature, pulse, and respiration), talked about the signs of colic, and discussed when it's time to call the veterinarian.
Of course, the favorite part of the day was giving Karat a refreshing bubble bath to help beat the summer heat! π«§π΄
It's so much fun watching these kids gain real farm skills and confidence while caring for our animals.
π September and October Farm School sessions are now open for registration! We'd love to welcome more young farmers to join us for hands-on learning, science, crafts, and plenty of time with the animals here at Blue Heron Farm. πΏ
