Chandler Oklahoma Scholastic Shooting Sports Chandler is a pilot school for the OKSSSP through the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife. Scholastic Shooting Shooter Requirements

1.

Must be a student at Chandler Schools

2. Must not have been suspended for a Level 3 offense in the past 12 months. Other suspensions involving violent behavior may be considered. Exceptions, if any, made to this requirement must be fully documented with reason and recommendation by at least 2 program coaches, one of whom must be a certified teacher at CHS, with signature approved of HS Principal

3. Must pass drug test and school physical. In addition, must obtain a mental health release from physician in order to exhibit mental capacity to handle fi****ms and complete safety for impulse control.

4. Must successfully pass Fi****ms Safety Training Course provided by Scholastic Shooting Program.

5. Must have their own, or access to, a 12 or 20 gauge shotgun, any action (i.e., break, pump or semi-automatic)

6. Must maintain eligibility in accordance with school policies and procedures as set forth by the Board of Education.

We just finished SSSP Regional Shoot at the Grand National Gun Club in Enid, OK. The boys had a god time and shot well given the winds. For many of these kids, this was their first competition shoot. Good job Team Chandler.

Finally we will have our first practice at the Ag. Farm at approx 4:15. Tomorrow (Wednesday) 3/9/2022. Please arrive with your weapons and bolts locked to the rear and unloaded. Inspections will happen before guns are placed on the range safety first. We have a new thrower and has been tested and works very well!

I am please to announce we are beginning sign-ups for the scholastic shooting sports program.
More info to follow ie...fees and the like. Right now I need names and Hunter education numbers. We will also be working on this in outdoor skills and after school archery programs.

I hope everyone is well and enjoying family time. We ordered our uniform shirts before the break in anticipation for Regionals. We all know these events were cancelled. But your uniform jerseys are in. We will find a way to distribute these once social distancing constraints are lifted. Then you will be all set for next year’s season!!

The Oklahoma SSSP regional meet scheduled for March 24 has been postponed. They will also postpone the state meet until the regionals are rescheduled. Our current plan is to resume practices on Tuesday, March 24 after school unless we post otherwise. We will keep you updated and informed.

Chandler Public Schools has made the decision to suspend all student activities through March 22. This action is precautionary, but prudent. Enjoy spring break.
