Founded in 1954, Seton Catholic Preparatory is a Catholic faith community whose mission calls its students to full participation and challenges them to achieve superior standards of educational excellence, leadership, and loving ervice to others. Seton Catholic is a four-year coeducational school whose ultimate task is to prepare students with the resources necessary for life
-long learning within the framework of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His Church. The school was named for Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton who opened the first parochial school in America and founded the Sisters of Charity. These Sisters have helped staff the school throughout its history. The faculty and staff of Seton Catholic facilitate each student’s academic progress, social, cultural, physical and moral development, and religious formation while supporting parents as primary educators. Serving more than 540 students, 44 teachers and 4 counselors have an average of more than 15 years’ experience. Five staff members are Seton Catholic alumni. Seton Catholic continues its strong affiliation with the Sisters of Charity by offering a dual enrollment with Seton Hill University. ACCREDITATION
Seton Catholic Preparatory High School is accredited by both the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the Western Catholic Education Association. ENROLLMENT/SERVICE AREA
Seton Catholic Preparatory High School, located in Chandler, Arizona, is the only Catholic high school in the East Valley, serving primarily Chandler, Mesa, Tempe and Gilbert. Students from Phoenix, Ahwatukee, Apache Junction, Casa Grande, Scottsdale and Pinal County also attend Seton Catholic. The students attending Seton Catholic come from Caucasian, Hispanic, Asian, Native American and African-American origins. Seton students are from low, middle and high income levels. The average class size is 21. Seton Catholic does not discriminate on the basis of s*x, race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletic or other school-administered programs. CURRICULUM
Seton Catholic’s graduation requirements meet or exceed college entrance requirements. The curriculum includes daily classes in religious education, with honors and Advanced Placement courses in most departments. Typically, about 99% of Seton Catholic Prep’s graduates go on to college. SPECIAL FEATURES
As a Catholic school, Seton Catholic places priority on the spiritual formation of the students. Prayer, especially through liturgy, is one of the focal points of the school. Daily Mass is celebrated and all-school Masses are offered once a month. Other spiritual opportunities are provided through campus ministry, and include Reconciliation Services, weekly confession opportunities, annual retreats and monthly exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Students complete Christian service to parishes, the school, and local and non-profit agencies during their four years at Seton Catholic Prep. ACTIVITIES AND CLUBS
Seventy-five percent of the students participate in clubs and athletics. Club offerings include: Ambassadors, Band, Chess, Choir, Computer Club, Cultural Awareness Club, Dance, Drama, Eucharistic Ministers, Junior Classical Latin League, Kairos Retreats, National Honor Society, Newspaper, Robotics Club, SCTV (campus news), National Honor Society, Student Council, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD), Theater, Trainers' Club, and Yearbook.
