Ministry Highlights ✝️

ENGAGE is one of the most impactful things we do at Valley Christian. Each spring, our students step outside the classroom to serve on mission trips and share the love of Christ around the world.

This week, we’re highlighting one of our trips that served alongside Street Reach Ministries in Memphis, Tennessee. From leading Backyard Bible Clubs and serving families through laundromat outreach to completing neighborhood service projects, our students spent the week building relationships, serving others, and sharing the hope of Jesus.

We’re grateful for our partnership with Street Reach and excited to continue highlighting the ministries our students have the opportunity to serve through ENGAGE! 💙

For Eliza, that has meant growing in confidence through Bella Voce and Choir, finding her place in our incredible Junior High Fine Arts program, and most importantly, experiencing the power of a Christ-centered community.

This is just the beginning. We can’t wait to share more stories throughout the year of how our K-12 students are being truly equipped to become culture changers for Christ!

We’re continuing our Teacher Spotlights throughout the year, and this week we’re highlighting two teachers who make a lasting impact on our students, Mrs. Davis (6th Grade) and Mrs. Morgan (5–8 Fine Arts)!

Fall Sports Assembly! 🏆

As we head into September, our fall sports are getting underway! Football and cross country are already in action, volleyball gets started tonight, and swim & dive and flag football are right around the corner.

Our students came together last Friday to kick off the new sports season and celebrate our spring champions, including our 3-peat Baseball State Champions and back-to-back Rocket League State Champions.

From Valley to the NFL! ⚔️

The NFL’s 53-man rosters were announced yesterday, and for Valley, all eyes were on the New York Giants!

Our very own Dominic Zvada ’22 has officially been named the Giants kicker!

While at Valley, Dom was a 2019 Class 3A First-Team All-State and First-Team All-Metro selection and set the Arizona Class 3A record for the longest field goal with a 55-yarder in 2020.

He continued to make his mark at Michigan, earning First-Team All-American and First-Team All-Big Ten honors, while being named the Big Ten Kicker of the Year in 2024. He also set a Michigan single-season record with a 95.5% field goal percentage and made seven field goals of 50+ yards that season.

After an incredible college career, Dom was singed over the offseason and is now officially a New York Giant.

The Valley community is so proud of you, Dom! We’ll be cheering you on and tuning in this season. 🏈💙

Last Friday, our 7th graders kicked off a new Valley tradition with our very first Serve-Belong-Grow Day!

Students spent the morning serving at Feed My Starving Children before coming together for lunch, team building, and breakout sessions truly exemplifying this year’s theme of UN1TY!

We’re excited to see this day grow into a tradition that helps our students serve others, build a stronger community, and grow together.

Teacher Spotlights 📚

As we continue celebrating the teachers who make Valley Christian so special, we’re onto the high school! This week, we're highlighting Bible teacher Mr. Anderson and the impact he has made on his students.

"One teacher that has really impacted me the most would be Mr. Anderson. His class has been the most engaging and interesting class that I have ever had. Though some topics and concepts are somewhat hard to take in, he does his best to help students like me better understand and process the lesson. Mr. Anderson has such great character and is super personable. I am so grateful to have him as one of my Bible teachers at Valley."

Mr. Anderson brings a genuine care to his classroom while helping students grow in their understanding of God’s Word and their faith. Thank you, Mr. Anderson.
