Under the guidance and leadership of our 4th/6th grade math teacher, Mrs. Rabo, the NVCE team earned 2nd Place Sweepstakes in their division, with seven students qualifying for the National Competition in Maryland later this month. Students who participated in state were Theodore, Austin Zhu, Aiden Zhu, Isabella Ding, Ian Ding, Mahiri Bajaj, Cristiano Lu, Arjun Patel, Aanya Pepala, Nathan Rosas, Myra Khan, Aarush Kumar, Ryan Dai, and Leon Li. Congratulations to Austin Zhu, Aiden Zhu, Isabella Ding, Mahiri Bajaj, Aanya Pepala, Ryan Dai and Leon Li for qualifying for the national competition!

This photo captures a few of our national qualifiers practicing together as they prepare to represent New Vistas on the national stage. Their dedication, teamwork, and commitment to challenging themselves continue to impress us. Adding to the excitement, the beautiful team trophy was a complete surprise! It arrived after the school year had already ended, making for a wonderful and unexpected celebration of the students' hard work and achievement.

Congratulations to all of our NVCE Math Navigators who competed this season. We are excited to see what these talented mathematicians accomplish at Nationals!

Representing the NVCE Engineering Club team, the Depth Chargers, had an incredible time at the International SeaPerch Challenge at the University of Maryland!

Team members Aiden Zhu and Aarav Rane are proudly representing New Vistas while teammate Austin Zhu cheers them on from home. This first-year SeaPerch team has enjoyed meeting students from around the world, sharing ideas, and making new friends while competing on the international stage.

We are incredibly proud of their hard work, teamwork, and willingness to take on new challenges. What an amazing opportunity to learn, grow, and connect with fellow young engineers!

Stacey Trepanier, NVCE's 6th grade ELA/History teacher, is excited to share the outstanding and incredible news about one of NVCE's amazing fourth graders. WOW! WOW!!

"I’m thrilled to share some exciting news from this past week. As you may know, I traveled with fourth grader Nathan and his family to Orlando, Florida, where he competed in the International Academic Competition National Championship. This event brought together some of the brightest young scholars from across the country for fast‑paced, high‑energy academic challenges. They were quite the group; it was a true celebration of curiosity, knowledge, and student excellence on a national stage.

Nathan proudly represented the NVCE Navigators and delivered an outstanding performance. He amazed his family and me by finishing in the top ten nationally in every single event he entered. His hard work, enthusiasm, and love of learning shone through in every round, and he had an absolute blast along the way. We even found time to play at Universal Studios between rounds!

Nathan will be bringing home an incredible set of national awards:

Maps and Flags Championship – 10th Place Nationally
Geography Bee – 7th Place Nationally
U.S. Geography – 4th Place Nationally
U.S. History Bee – 4th Place Nationally
Citizenship Bee – 2nd Place National Winner
Recent History Championship – 2nd Place Nationally

I am so, so proud of Nathan’s remarkable achievements. He only began preparing in February, and as we found out when we got to Orlando, everyone else prepares year-round. Nathan represented NVCE with humility, dedication, sportsmanship, and joy. This is a milestone worth celebrating!"

Nathan, your entire NVCE family is incredibly proud of you!

On the last day of school, students in Mrs. Lira/Mrs. Devine's 3rd grade class participated in a "vocabulary parade" in some of the younger classes. Students chose a word that they studied during the year and then dressed up in costume, portraying the word and definition. What an adorable parade!

Students in Ms. Nelson's Pre-K class enjoyed "Sundae Monday" by having an ice cream social to celebrate how sweet they are! They definitely are sweet!

The two fifth grade classes held a "friendly" competition between each other in "The Fifth Grade World Flag Competition" which was held every week since returning from spring break and concluding this week. The competition was an opportunity for students to learn and demonstrate their knowledge of the flags around the world. Congratulations to the winning team!

Students that completed all of their reading assignments this quarter received a coupon for a free slice of cake from Portillo's. A special thank you to Portillo's and all the other businesses this year that rewarded our students. Thank you, Nothing But Bundt Bakery, SomeBurros, Floridino's and Portillo's.
