Apparently, four square has no age limit.
Mrs. Scheck had everybody battling it out in PE with a little old-school four square.

No fancy equipment.
No screens.
Just a ball, four squares, and some VERY serious debates over whether that ball was actually on the line.

CEC's own personal Chef, Misss. Julie, has been given a Shout-Out by Mrs. Marney!! Here's what Mrs. Marney has to say:

"Miss. Julie is a great cook! Miss Julie made spaghetti and meatballs today for lunch. After lunch, the students were raving about how fantastic her spaghetti and meatballs are. I'm sure it's because they are made with love.

Miss Julie makes sure that every student has a hot meal every day. She's been at it a long time and she could have just continued what she always did, but she upped her game this year and has added even more to her fantastic menu. She is always looking for new ideas and interests of each student.

Thank you, Miss Julie, for caring so much about your Chana family. We appreciate you!"

Last week, Mrs. Koch’s classroom earned a special BINGO period, and Emily chose a “help plan an activity” reward.

Emily took the lead from start to finish. She planned a puppet lesson for the class, organized what she wanted to teach, and stepped confidently into the teacher role. She gave clear directions, encouraged her classmates, and made sure everyone felt successful along the way.

We loved seeing Emily show such initiative, confidence, and leadership.

Way to go, Emily! 💙💛

Ogle County Educational Cooperative is partnering with Service Inc. to host a PUNS Open House for parents and families of youth with disabilities.

What is PUNS? PUNS stands for Prioritization of Urgency of Need for Services. It is Illinois’ statewide system for identifying individuals with developmental disabilities who may need services or supports now or in the future. Getting connected with PUNS can be an important step in planning for future services and resources.

Representatives from Service Inc. and the Barbara Olson Center of Hope will be available to share information, answer questions, and help families better understand PUNS and available supports.

📍 SOAR House, 106 S. 10th St., Oregon, IL

This is an open house format, so stop in anytime during the event. No registration is necessary, and all parents and caregivers of youth with disabilities are welcome.

"Mrs. Anderson has done a fantastic job connecting with students across all programs. She identifies students who are struggling and encourages them to put forth their best effort. She will work 1:1 with students and find strategies to help them be successful. She anticipates when students are struggling and knows when to intervene and support them as they work through their challenges. Mrs. Anderson is innovative with her approach and meets each student where they are while still holding them to a high standard."

Mrs. Becker’s STEM Read class brought Fuzzy Mud to life today with a hands-on contamination lab! 🧪

Each student started with a beaker of water, but one secretly contained a “contaminant.” After three rounds of sharing water with classmates, students added red cabbage water to see who had become “contaminated.” Blue or green meant contaminated. Purple meant safe.

Then the real detective work began. Students used clues from the novel, deductive reasoning, and their own contact tracing to figure out who Patient 0 was and how the contamination spread. Several students correctly identified the original source!

Mrs. Becker has such a talent for taking what students are reading and turning it into something they can actually experience. Her creativity, energy, and authentic connections with kids make learning memorable, and judging by today’s lab, maybe just a little suspicious of anyone carrying a beaker. 😂🧪
