Franklin embraces and celebrates diversity while focusing on social equity and academic excellence for all. Built in 1953, Franklin was opened as a junior high school. In 1982, it became Franklin Magnet Middle School with an emphasis on enhanced opportunities in math, science, and performing arts. In 2004-05 after a new elementary feeder school plan was developed, Franklin was no longer designated

A HUGE THANK YOU from Franklin STEAM Academy for all that the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology at the University of Illinois has done for us this year. This was the last meeting of our STEAM CLUB hosted by IGB weekly as well as Owl Pellet Dissections in 7th Grade. Last week they led Grasshopper Dissections in 6th grade.

We are so grateful for their continued support since 2018! We look forward to many more years of partnership with them.

Thanks to the Champaign Urbana Schools Foundation's Distinguished Alumni Awards, Franklin STEAM Academy had a visit from "Hamilton" on Broadway actor, Jonathan Butler-Duplessis. Jonathan attended local schools: Dr. Howard Elementary, Franklin STEAM Academy, Central High School, Parkland College and the University of Illinois. Franklin students were thrilled to have the opportunity to hear him perform live for them. As a special surprise his former drama teacher, Angela Schneider, came to his visit at Franklin. What a fabulous visit for all!
