Just learned about this exhibit less than a week ago. We had to make a quick one day trip to Peoria to visit the Riverfront Museum and experience this stunning work in person. It was absolutely amazing! God is my favorite artist. I love when humans display His work in such simple, yet magnificent ways!
If you aren’t busy this week, GO! Unfortunately it’s only there for a couple more weeks.
Christopher Marley is an artist, naturalist, photographer, and author who uses preserved natural specimens as his medium. He grew up in the Pacific Northwest, immersed in nature from his earliest memories. During a decade spent traveling the world as a fashion model, Marley’s passion for discovering unfamiliar elements in the natural world became an obsession.
His work was born of a desire to share nature’s majesty in a way that inspires both the urbane and the nature aficionado equally. Marley believes that in the proper light, beauty is found in every organism and that the deeper our appreciation for the aesthetics of nature, the more eager we are to immerse ourselves in it and conserve it.
All of the vertebrates that Marley uses in his work are reclaimed after dying of natural or incidental causes. He has innovated techniques for a host of organisms that are not typically considered good candidates for preservation. He also utilizes insects that are collected or bred in an environmentally sensitive manner using a worldwide network of people and institutions that share his passion for nature.

Next counselor spotlight! Just like her sisters, we love having Miss Audrey P at CU Create.
Hi, I'm Audrey! I am one of the workers at CU Create, and have been working in Childcare for almost 5 years. I have many hobbies, including embroidering, crochet, painting, photography, and more. When I am not creating, I can be found baking, cooking, reading, or spending time with friends and family. I've worked for Megan for a few years now, and am very thankful for the opportunity to do so in her new location, too! I love working with kids, and hearing their thoughts and opinions, and seeing the world the way they do: with eyes full of wonder. I believe its my job as someone who works with kids to try to give them a magical childhood. I look forward to helping them Create this summer!
❤️❤️❤️ Welcome Miss Audrey P! ❤️❤️❤️

Next counselor spotlight!
Miss Lydia is an absolutely wonderful helper to the kids! She is patient and kind and jumps right in to lend a helping hand. Not only is she helping with camp this summer, but she’s also learning how to create my balloon arches for birthday parties. She is just the sweetest and we are so glad to have her on our team!
Hi, my name is Lydia! I am going to into my junior year in high school and I am so exited to be joining the CU Create team this summer!
During the school year I am in my school’s color guard and drama department, and when I am not doing that, I am crafting! I love all kinds of art, from collages to clay and am not afraid to get a little messy. Hanging out with kids is something I enjoy doing and I am so excited for this summer!
Welcome Miss Lydia! ❤️❤️❤️

You guys! I’m so sorry I haven’t been consistently posting. I’ve been so so busy! Camps, birthdays, softball, my own kids…. I’m going to try to be better. We’re moving into week 5 of camp, and I’ve still only posted week 1!
We’ve had so many amazing bdays this month, along with a new party option: Creative Science!
PS- We’re still collecting cardboard, so if you have any, please drop it off at the studio! You can even slide it behind a bench that’s sitting along the back sidewalk.
Without further ado. Here’s my next counselor spotlight! Miss Audrey T! I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She has been such a huge blessing to our team, and I believe she is going to be the best art teacher ever! While she does plan to go away for college, I’m hoping she will continue to help out when she comes back to town for breaks. She is just the best!!!
My name is Audrey Tolbert, and I am a recent graduate of Central High School. I love watercolor painting, drawing, and ceramics. As well as art, I also love working with kids. Next year, I'm going to Eastern Illinois University to major in art education!
Welcome Miss Audrey! We are so thankful you joined CU Create! ❤️
