Katie Mowat, an MS student focused in Environmental Engineering, will serve as Vice President. Khalid Alkady, a PhD student focused in Structural Engineering, will serve as Primary Programmer.

🌟Student Spotlight🌟 Current CEE Master’s students, Gabe and Andrew, spent part of spring break collecting data at the Loup City Landfill. The project they are working on aims to create a pilot bio-trickling filter to concentrate and treat hydrogen sulfide from landfill gas emissions.

⭐️Student Spotlight⭐️ Francisco is a 2nd year Master’s student focusing in Structural Engineering. His research objective is to produce a tool that can predict load ratings based on finite element modeling. He recently presented his work to academics, agency leaders, policy-makers, and private consultants at the 99th Annual Transportation Research Board meeting in Washington D.C. Francisco used this opportunity to practice his presentation skills, as well as to learn about innovative advancements related to bridge engineering. Francisco will defend his thesis this spring and has accepted a job offer as a bridge engineer at HDR in Omaha. Congrats Cisco!

Noelle, one of our current PhD students focusing in Environmental Engineering, spent last weekend at the annual Women Empowered in STEM conference hosted by the Society of Women Engineers. Her favorite parts of the conference were listening to a range of topics covered by diverse speakers, as well as making new connections. She even had a chance to reconnect with UNL CEE alumni, Shaobin Li, who is currently a postdoc at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign! @ University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

⭐️Student Spotlight⭐️
Mitham is a current Master’s student studying Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on the biofiltration of volatile organic compounds emitted from ethanol plants. In this picture, Mitham is collecting samples from the ethanol plant to take back to the lab to analyze the concentrations of various hazardous air pollutants. In his free time, Mitham enjoys soccer, working out, and reading.
