Welcome our new preschool teacher, Ms LeFaivre! 💛💜
Hello my name is Gigi LeFaivre and I am so excited to join Holy Cross School as a Pre-K 3 teacher.
What brings me to Holy Cross School is that I love how this school gives its students comfort and care while providing an excellent education. When I’m not at school, you can usually find me at a sporting event cheering on my 15-year-old son. I also love the beach, family game nights, and relaxing nights at home.
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to join your team!

Meet our new 2nd grade teacher Miss Tupper! đź’•
My name is Makayla Tupper and I am from Bloomington-Normal, Illinois. I was originally born in Lincoln, Nebraska but moved to Illinois when I was 2 years old due to my dads job. So, all my extended family still lives in Nebraska and my family and I are huge Husker sports fans! But we also love the Cubs and the Bears! I attended UIUC which is what brought me here to Holy Cross! During my second semester of student teaching my senior year, I was placed in a second grade class at Holy Cross. I fell in love with second grade and the Holy Cross community and am so excited to be back! I am the middle child and I have two brothers. My older brother is 24 and is attending Midwestern University, studying to be a Physician’s Assistant. My younger brother is 20 and is attending Illinois State University and is majoring in construction management. My older brother also got married last summer, so I gained a sister-in-law as well! She is a third grade teacher up in the suburbs!

Proud member of the STM Class of ’26, Nick Unger has a passion for building and will be attending San Damiano Trade School in Springfield for the upcoming school year. Before leaving, he volunteered to build us this wonderful storage bin rack to organize the storage “garage” area of our Great Hall which, until now, has been in serious disarray. Thank you Nick, and know of our prayers for you as you enter the next years of your life. Nick supplied the sacrifice of his time, skill, sweat, and servant’s heart for the project, but the builders’ supply store would only take money for the materials. The total cost was $900. If you would like to help us cover the cost of this gift, just drop your contribution into a separate envelope, get it to the parish office through the Sunday collection, mail, or however you want with a note attached “Storage Bins.”
Peace,
Msgr. B.

In August, we are excited to welcome our new Kitchen Manager, Micah Klaman, to the HCS team! Mr. Klaman is already a familiar face in our school community. His wife serves as one of our 7th grade homeroom teachers, and their daughter, Arianna, is a rising 4th grader. We are thrilled to officially welcome him to this new role!
A note from Mr. Klaman: I grew up in Vermilion County, Illinois, but I have lived in Champaign for a total of 19 years now. Our household pet is a noisy 24 year old Senegal parrot. My daughter Arianna is a student at Holy Cross, she is starting fourth grade this semester. My respect for Holy Cross School began to grow when my daughter began her enrollment in kindergarten, the quality of the education and care provided by the faculty truly stands out to me, and the merit these qualities manifest is what piqued my interest in gaining employment at Holy Cross School. As well, this position will provide me the ability to spend much more time with my family, which is something I am extremely grateful for. I look forward to starting my new position and providing service to Holy Cross. As for a favorite lunch, I don’t feel like I have one but my family shouted “pizza” when I said that.
Some of my favorite foods are- Pizza, Ribeyes, Bacon, & Rib Tips!

We are excited to introduce our new art teacher, Sydney McMahon! Welcome home Miss McMahon!
Hi! My name is Sydney McMahon, and I was born and raised right here in Champaign, Illinois as the oldest of 4 children! Holy Cross has been my parish my whole life, where I attended school from kindergarten to 8th grade and received all my sacraments. In college I studied Psychology and Theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville, and shortly after that, served as a missionary in Ecuador for 7 months in an orphanage. I love traveling, spending time with friends, working with kids, and creating art, to name a few! (Fun fact: I make homemade clay rosaries, and I would love to open an ETSY shop for it one day!) I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to return to Holy Cross, and hope that I can make a positive impact in the lives of our students just like I had growing up. Let's make this year a great one, all for the glory of God!
