BOSS: Bilingual Organization for SHS Students - at UIUC U of I’s Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Club

La Organización de Logopedia y Audiología (OLA) was founded several years ago to promote the study of bilingual (Spanish/English) Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology in the Speech and Hearing Science Department. Just as “ola” in Spanish means “wave," our organization hopes to bring a new wave of bilingual speech-language pathologists and audiologists into the ever-expanding field of communication sciences. OLA is composed of undergraduate and graduate students of all backgrounds and levels of fluency in Spanish who are interested in being bilingual speech pathologists or audiologists. We aim to serve the increasing Spanish-speaking populations surrounding Champaign-Urbana through volunteer and fundraising opportunities as well as social events. We also offer Spanish conversation hours and guest lecture series with speakers who work in bilingual companies, schools, and businesses.
