Parkland College Health Professions

Students enrolled in Parkland's first healthcare pre-apprenticeship program celebrated their last week of class with a tour of health professions programs including respiratory therapy, veterinary technology, surgical technology, radiologic technology, and dental hygiene. In this program, students learned foundational healthcare concepts and skills such as vital signs, CPR, legal and ethical considerations, medical terminology, infection control, and the healthcare team. Students were also provided additional support and guidance for transitioning into their desired health career. Congratulations and best wishes to these students!

4th semester nursing students volunteering to help at the Christie Clinic Illinois Races; they assisted runners on Saturday both at Memorial Stadium and on the course.

Mrs.Kennett’s semester RN students and Mrs. Somers first semester LPN students worked together in the simulation lab where the patient they were caring for had a thermal burn injury. It was a fantastic day of teaching, learning, communicating, and delegating!

Respiratory Technology is still accepting applications for Fall 2026. Applications will be open until June 30, 2026.

Dolly is a sweet and sensitive soul. She gets along GREAT with other cats, but loud noises scare her. She will do best in a home without dogs. Dolly is sweet as can be!

Students from Occupational Therapy Assistant, Nursing, Respiratory Technology, and Certified Medical Assistant Programs at Parkland College participated in an Interprofessional Experience and practice communication skills with their colleagues and patients with challenging conditions. A great experience to prepare them for working in healthcare!
