Last week was a busy week for the Fighting Illini battalion!
Over the course of the previous week, our cadets were rewarded for their excellent efforts during the Tri-Service Awards Ceremony, our MSIII’s participated in their final super lab: conducting weapons training, and finally our MSI’s completed the Hazelton competition! Great Work Cadets!

From CFTX to CWST, our battalion has been busy!
Cadets this week participated in CFTX, a combined training exercise where Cadets practiced STX lanes, obstacle courses, and other activities to help them prepare for CST.

Last week, our MS4s travelled to Fort Donelson National Battlefield in Tennessee for their Staff Ride, learning about the history and decisions that shaped the Civil War. From analyzing key terrain to discussing command decisions, cadets connected classroom concepts to real-world lessons!

Congratulations to our Cadet of the Month for March: Cadet Daily! CDT Daily is an MS3 in Mechanical Engineering. He decided to join ROTC to develop leadership and real-world professional skills. Outside of school and training, CDT Daily likes lifting heavy, good movies, and playing guitar.

Over the weekend, the Fighting Illini Battalion’s MS3’s conducted a superlab with the focus being on land navigation at Fox Ridge State Park. This was to prepare our MS3’s for advanced camp!

This morning at 1AM, the road belonged to those willing to earn it.
The Fighting Illini Battalion hosted a Norwegian Foot March joined by Naval ROTC, Air Force ROTC, and members from the Illinois Army National Guard.

Introducing our Cadet of the Month, CDT Kirchen! Cadet Kirchen is a MS3 studying sociology. He joined rotc because he wanted to serve our country while still being able to get a degree at Illinois. Outside of ROTC, he is involved with his social fraternity as well as being apart of the Student Alumni Ambassadors. In his free time, he enjoys golfing, watching Illinois basketball, and hanging out with his friends.

This morning, the Fighting Illini Battalions MS2’s and MS3’s stepped off before sunrise and completed an 8 mile ruck march! Every mile carried is a step closer to becoming a stronger leader for tomorrow’s Army!
