Join us Tuesday, June 30, at 4:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. at Fresh Press Studio (2116 S Griffith Dr in Champaign) for part 1 of a 2-part experience focused on learning how to make paper. Perfect for beginners, this hands-on session will guide you through every step of the traditional Western papermaking process — from pulling sheets with a mould and deckle to pressing and drying your very own handmade paper. We’ll be working with miscanthus and cotton fibers to create beautiful, sustainable sheets you can take pride in.
After you have your sheets, join us on Wednesday, July 8, at 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Skeuomorph Press (1301 S Goodwin Ave, Urbana, IL 61801) for part 2 of this experience, focused on utilizing the paper you made by binding it into a book. Taking place at the Skeuomorph Press, participants will learn about Japanese Stab Binding to bind their homemade paper into a journal to keep. A great workshop for beginners and intermediate folks alike.
Workshops #1: part 1 & 2 will be taken together.
Once you’re signed up, you’ll receive a confirmation email with everything you need to know about a week before the workshop.
