Today marks the 15th iteration of the UN's International Day of Friendship. With the current state of things, it is more important than ever to celebrate this day. As a diverse community that includes international students and students whose families scatter the globe, whose programming is welcome to ALL students, UCC Campus Ministry joyfully lifts up this day.

Looking for something fun to do this Monday night? Consider volunteering at Jubilee Cafe CUCC!

Volunteer at Jubilee Cafe CUCC Jubilee Cafe CUCC serves a weekly meal each Monday. We need volunteers to help with various jobs to prepare and serve the meal. This is an excellent opportunity for volunteers age 14 and over to serve guests in a restaurant style format. Children under age 14 are not allowed to volunteer at Jubilee....

One of the ways Campus Ministry students are keeping in touch this summer is by meeting on Zoom to talk about Pixar movies. Tonight we discussed Toy Story 2 and Monsters Inc and it was so fun to have students join from all over the world literally (Paraguay, Japan, Illinois, and New Jersey 😁) The best part though was catching up with everyone and seeing each other's faces! It's the last full day in Asheville for the Community UCC, Champaign, IL youth mission trip and we are lucky enough to be working with BeLoved Asheville on finishing touches of their BeLoved Village. Such a beautiful dream that they are making a reality - and we're fortunate enough to help a tiny bit! First few pics are from yesterday's hike, a devotional circle, and community dinner with Land of the Sky folks.

UCC Campus Ministry - UIUC students and the other chaperones have been absolutely amazing!

The CUCC Youth Mission Trip Adventure continues! We've spent time in nature, helped repair some damage at a transition home for formerly incarcerated women, collected water for the baptismal font, and learned about the incredible work Swannanoa Communities Together has been doing locally since Hurricane Helene hit. Today, we split up and delivered meals all across the county for Meals on Wheels of Asheville & Buncombe Co., Inc. We've also seen lots of bears from a safe distance, held a variety of baby birds, and have found reasons to go to the local Walmart at least 6 separate times 😂

During down time, the youth and adults have been playing games, having interesting philosophical conversations, and learning each other's lingo. It's been an incredible trip so far, and seems impossible that tomorrow is our last full day in Asheville! Turns out time really flies when you're being of service.

We interrupt our regular programming this week to spotlight the Community UCC, Champaign, IL youth mission trip to Asheville, NC. Three of our chaperones are campus ministry students! Today we helped the youth at our host church, Land of the Sky UCC, finish an outdoor art installation: a reminder that God's Doors Are Open To All!
