Anchors Away!

Please join us for the 2022 Student IEA Spring Conference, April 23, 2022 at the Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel & Conference Center in Normal, IL.

This year’s conference will be a 1-day format with a limited number of hotel rooms available to those who will need to drive in on Friday (since Parkland is relatively close to Bloomington-Normal, we are recommending that PCSEA members leave hotel rooms open to those who are traveling from a farther distance).

Onsite registration will open at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 23. A light breakfast is available beginning at 7:30 a.m. followed by the first conference session at 9:00 a.m. The final session will conclude at 3:30 p.m.

If you would like to register for the conference with housing for the Friday night prior to the event, please register by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30. After March 30 we cannot guarantee hotel room availability. The conference registration will close on Friday, April 8.

It’s exciting to be able to meet in person once again and your Student IEA Leadership Team has worked hard to bring you a strong program. This year you will be able to choose your elective sessions onsite from the following interest-areas: Building Relationships, The Power of Teaching, Restorative Practices, Technology in the Classroom, SEL & Trauma-Informed Practices, Educator Self-Care, Student-Centered Classrooms, Collaborating for Student Success, Equitable Classrooms, Family & Community Engagement, Student Engagement & Motivation, and Traveling the World Through Books.

We hope you will be able to join us. The registration link is here: https://linktr.ee/parkland_pcsea

Hey hey, Cobra Aspiring Educators! Here is a look at our schedule for the month of March! We’ve got a few incredible opportunities for you all & we can’t wait to get things started this month!

Be sure to check your Parkland emails for more information & keep your eyes open for exciting details on our upcoming service project! πŸ’šπŸπŸ

Virtually join a live audience of Aspiring Educators at Edinboro University in Pennsylvania for "Student Teaching: Are Unpaid Internships Killing Education?," a national event for ALL members.

Our experiences through K-12 observations & student teaching prepare us through incredible hands-on experiences. Student teaching is an exciting time, but it is also a final requirement that comes at a high monetary cost - which creates a barrier for many whose calling is to become an educator. This will be a space for members to learn about its impact on education and also share their perspectives on the issue. ALL are welcome.

Join us Thursday, March 3rd at 7pm CT by joining here: https://zoom.us/j/97144628486

The banning of books restricts intellectual freedom, and the censorship associated with the act is far more harmful to children than any book out there.

As aspiring educators, we have the voice and the power to demand that every student have the same freedom and right to learn both the good and bad side of history, different experiences, and realities of our world.

This resource toolkit is full of information on banned books and censorship, as well the tools you need to make a change in this world. We look forward to protecting the First Amendment and helping to stop the government from banning books in our schools with you!
