School Counselors will begin meeting with seniors for conferences next week, and we will continue to do so for the next several weeks. Students who responded to the Google Classroom senior survey with a 4-year university plan will be the first group counselors begin meeting with. We are looking forward to touching base with all of our seniors and discussing their future plans!

Parkland College Fall Preview
Monday, October 12 • 9 am–1 pm
Students will view a presentation, enjoy a light breakfast, and attend specialized sessions that will allow students and their guests the opportunity for focused learning about the topics that matter to them. Central students (grade 9-12) have the opportunity to attend the HBCU College Fair at University High School (Normal, IL) on Thursday, October 1st. This event is FREE! Students can receive a field form from Mr. Tanner in the Student Services office. All field trip forms are to be returned to Mr. Tanner on or before Thursday, September 17th at 3:45 PM. Transportation and food will be provided!

1. Free College Essay Writing Workshop

Program Details - This workshop will provide step-by-step guidance in a supportive, collaborative, and fun environment designed to reduce writing anxiety. Students will learn proven strategies to strengthen their essays from University faculty and staff to help set themselves up for success in the 2026-2027 application cycle.

This workshop will provide step-by-step guidance through the writing and revision processes in a supportive, collaborative, and fun environment designed to reduce writing anxiety. Students will learn proven strategies to strengthen their essays from University faculty and staff to help set themselves up for success in the 2026-2027 application cycle.

Education for Employment System #330 is offering the 2026 Summer Construction Program at Parkland College for incoming high school juniors and seniors. Students will learn construction-related skills through the construction of various projects, visits to trade unions, and
post-secondary opportunities including how to apply for an apprenticeship. Upon completion, students will earn a $400 educational stipend and high school credit.

Dates of the program are June 8th-June 25th from 8:00 AM-2:00 PM (Monday-Thursdays).
All applications are due back to your counselor by April 10, 2026 @ 3:00 PM.
