This ICTW case study follows Sam, a young adult with autism, as he learns to navigate schedule changes and workplace uncertainty. Through strategies such as priming, involving students in decision-making, and the "Ask Three Before Me" approach, Sam developed the flexibility needed to succeed in community employment and thrive in his role as a landscape associate.

Sharing this insightful webinar, Creating a Vision for Meaningful Employment for Students with Significant Support Needs, presented by Jane Collins, ICTW Training Specialist.
In this webinar, Jane Collins, Training Specialist at the Illinois Center for Transition and Work, describes the importance of changing mindsets about employment potential for students with significant support needs. Instead of asking if students can work, we need to ask how they can work—with the right supports and vision. Explore core beliefs that support inclusive employment, such as presuming competence, viewing employment as a right, and the value of customized support. This webinar demonstrates how a common philosophy across teams leads to better outcomes. Learn how to develop a clear plan to foster and apply a belief-driven approach in your own program.
