Employee Spotlight: Martin Kelly

Nitterhouse is excited to highlight Martin Kelly as our first Employee Spotlight. Martin is a company man through and through. He says when people think of him, they think of Nitterhouse!

Martin’s journey at Nitterhouse began all the way back in August of 1971, and since then, he has worked in just about all of the production departments. When necessary, he even helped out at the Nitterhouse Masonry block plant. In 2004, he was promoted to Manager of the Structural Department which is responsible for producing concrete beams, columns, and double tees. Martin has been instrumental in the growth and success of the department, and he continues to look for opportunities to improve.

Martin is also a family man. If you have a conversation with him, you will more than likely hear about how proud he is of his family, especially his five granddaughters.

When asked about his favorite memory at Nitterhouse, Martin said it was when his son, John, came to work here. John has been at Nitterhouse since 2000 and currently works alongside his dad running the department. John says he is grateful for being able to work with his dad to learn not only how to manage the department, but also what it looks like to balance work and family life.

Martin’s advice for anyone early in their career: “I started out shoveling concrete; now here I am running the department.” Hard work pays off, and Martin is a great example.
