🍓 The CASD Food Service brought the PA Harvest of the Month program to Ben Chambers Elementary School with a special strawberry French toast taste test! For May and June, the featured harvest item was strawberries, and students had the opportunity to try the new dish and then vote on whether they liked it.

The strawberries were purchased from Country Creek Produce in Chambersburg, owned by farmer Brent Barnhart. Eggs were purchased through Ben Barnett of Family Farm Direct and produced by Berry Blossom Poultry and Produce in Waynesboro. We are proud to highlight local foods, support area farms, and give students a fun way to try something new!

Congratulations to Sandy Delaney, who was recognized at the May 26 CASD Board Meeting for earning her PA Certified School Payroll Professional credential through the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials (PASBO). This specialty certification focuses on education and expertise in school payroll, while recognizing professionals who meet high standards of competence, performance and continuing professional education.

Incoming kindergarten students will have a staggered start to the 2026-2027 school year.

Students with last names A-L will attend on August 19 and August 21.

Students with last names M-Z will attend on August 20 and August 24.

All kindergarten students will attend beginning August 25 and moving forward.

🚍 Important Transportation Update for CASD Families:

The CASD Transportation Department is preparing to launch Stopfinder, a new parent/guardian app that will be used to share student bus information for the upcoming school year. Beginning this year, bus information will be provided through Stopfinder only and will not be sent by email, postcard, or through the parent portal.

Bus information is expected to be released in mid-August. Stopfinder will allow families to securely view bus schedules, manage transportation details for multiple children, and share access with approved caregivers at no cost.

Congratulations to Natalie Eshleman on being selected as a 2026 Marcus Scholarship recipient by the PSBA Trust! Natalie was recognized for this achievement at the March 26 CASD Board Meeting. This $5,000 scholarship recognizes student leaders who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree in public safety, criminology, forensics, law enforcement or related safety fields.

Natalie’s dedication to leadership and excellence is an outstanding achievement, and we are proud to celebrate her success. Best wishes to Natalie as she continues her education and takes the next step toward her future career!

🎒📚 Kindergarten Kickstart is coming! Incoming kindergarten students and families are invited to visit their child’s tentatively assigned school, meet Kindergarten teachers and staff, and learn important information to help with the transition to Kindergarten.

Please note the date correction for Falling Spring Elementary School, which will be held on Thursday, July 23rd.
