Plein air painting invites artists to step outside and create directly from the world around them by observing, noticing, and capturing the beauty of a place in the moment.

What a wonderful example for our students of following your creativity, embracing the process, and finding inspiration in our own community. We love seeing our teachers continue to grow as artists and share that passion with our students!💙🎨🖌️🖼️

Going bananas in Gym!

Our Kindergarteners are having so much fun getting active with our new Physical Education teacher, Dr. Stacy Henson! Through music, movement, and playful games, our youngest students are building coordination, body awareness, confidence, and a love of movement.

In Montessori, we understand that movement is an important part of the whole child. Our K–8 Physical Education program gives students the opportunity to move, explore, challenge themselves, and grow, all while having a little fun along the way.

Montessori Academy of Chambersburg is looking for a Floating Assistant Teacher to join our team, with a primary focus on supporting our Toddler Community (ages 1–3 years old).

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with young children and thrives in a collaborative classroom environment. Our Floating Assistant Teacher helps support our Toddler classrooms throughout the day, working alongside lead teachers to provide a warm, nurturing, and engaging environment for our youngest students.

We’re looking for someone who is:

Warm, dependable, and nurturing
Comfortable working with children ages 1–3
A team player who is flexible and willing to support different classrooms as needed
Passionate about early childhood education and creating a positive environment for children

Today, we celebrate the birthday of Dr. Maria Montessori, the visionary educator whose work continues to inspire children and educators around the world.

Born on August 31, 1870, Maria Montessori believed deeply in the potential of every child. She recognized that children thrive when they are given the freedom to explore, meaningful opportunities to learn, and an environment that respects their natural development.

Her words, “The child is both a hope and a promise for mankind,” beautifully capture the heart of the Montessori philosophy.

At Montessori Academy of Chambersburg, we are grateful to carry forward her legacy each day by creating prepared environments, nurturing independence, encouraging curiosity, and honoring each child as the unique individual they are.

One full week of school in the books! đź’™

These first few weeks are a beautiful time of normalization - gently finding our rhythms, becoming familiar with our environments, reconnecting with friends, and settling into the peaceful routines of the classroom.

Normalization takes time. It is the gradual process of children becoming comfortable in their environment, finding joy in meaningful work, developing concentration, and discovering the independence that comes from knowing what to expect. We slow down, observe, and allow each child the time and space they need to find their place within the community. đź’™

The first Monday of a new school year feels a little extra specialđź’™

In Montessori education, the outdoor environment is not simply a place for recess. It is an extension of the classroom.

Children are given opportunities to observe, explore, move, wonder, and connect with the natural world as part of their learning.

Today, one of our Children’s House classes took their lesson outside, bringing their work into an environment filled with beauty, movement, and discovery.

We love watching our students begin the year with curiosity in their hearts and the whole world around them as their classroom.
