Workforce Wednesday!

Communication is one of the MOST important skills students can develop for success in today’s workforce — and it’s something we focus heavily on in our Workforce Development Program!

Many students think communication simply means “talking to people,” but effective communication goes far beyond that. Throughout our Communication Skills training, students learn how to:

• Listen actively and professionally
• Understand body language and nonverbal communication
• Recognize how emotions impact conversations
• Adapt communication styles to different situations and workplaces
• Work through barriers that can lead to misunderstandings
• Develop positive listening habits and teamwork skills
• Understand how culture, experiences, and context influence communication

Our students don’t just learn about communication — they practice it every day through classroom discussions, teamwork activities, career readiness training, and real-world work experiences. These are lifelong skills that will help them succeed in any career pathway they choose.

The Workforce Development Program is committed to preparing students with the professional skills employers expect — because career success starts with strong communication.

Just a teacher and his toolboxes...

Summer break isn't always a break for our dedicated instructors. For Mr. Andy Parson it is the perfect time to take inventory, prepare, organize and plan for the next school year. When this guy gets done there will not be a wrench out of place or an unlabeled, mystery drawer in the shop.

"The best investment is in the tools of one's own trade."

🐴🐎Animal Science & Vet Assisting did a little horsin' around before the end of the school year. 🐎🐴

CareerTech's Allied Health alum, Haylee Droneburg (2023) is now a Certified Equine Massage Therapist (CEMT). Haylee has her own business, H.D. EquiTherapy. She spends her days treating horses for tired and tight muscles.

Vet Assisting senior, Jaelynn Meyers, brought in her horse Penny as an equine patient for this treatment. Penny helped Haylee demonstrate massage techniques, stretching and Bemer Equine Therapy blanket and cuffs. These devices provide a non-invasive physical vascular therapy that utilizes pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) to stimulate microcirculation.

A horse has approximately 700 muscles that make up roughly half its total body weight. These massive muscular systems are specially engineered for immense athletic power, survival, and incredible endurance.
...Now, that's a lot of horsepower! 🐎🐎🐎
