Open, mindful, curious *seeing* is a skill that must be learned and practiced. Attention, observation, and other principles of “close looking” are central to the skills of visual analysis students develop in the Healthcare & Medical Humanities program at Wilson College.

As 2023 gets underway, we’d like to share a little bit about how the Healthcare & Medical Humanities (HMH) program recognizes and honors the history of Black Americans and actively seeks on a curricular level to promote more just futures.

A minor in Healthcare & Medical Humanities will serve you in countless ways, not only professionally, but personally. HMH offers the kind of coursework that many students have said *everyone* should take, just as human beings. ALL of the courses in the HMH minor fulfill liberal studies requirements, so it’s absolutely worth checking to see how close you might already be to completing the minor. If it looks like a program that is a good fit for your interests, talk with your advisor about shaping your four-year plan in a way that allows you to fold in the HMH course requirements as you are selecting courses that fill liberal studies requirements. Students pursuing careers in nursing, health sciences, and allied health professions—medical and non-medical—have so much to gain, personally and professionally, from coursework in the HMH program.
