Millage Renewal

A renewal of a current tax dedicated to the repair and maintenance of our school system's state-of-the-art facilities.

**This will NOT increase residents' current taxes**

If this renewal passes, the school system will continue to have the necessary funds to properly maintain the district's current facilities.

If this renewal does not pass, the school system will be forced to use general funds to maintain facilities. This will result in fewer dollars for instructional staff and resources.

Early voting ends November 8th. Election Day is November 15th.

Join us!

The St. Bernard Parish Public School System will host its Annual Day of Reflection Breakfast on Friday, August 29th. This year is a special one - it is the 20 YEAR Anniversary of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. 20 years of resilience, hope, dedication, and growth of our school family and community. And that's something worth celebrating.

The breakfast will be held at 8:30am at the Chalmette High School Freshmen Academy gymnasium, located at 1101 Judge Perez Drive, Chalmette. Doors open at 8:00am. The morning program will be a celebration of food, music, camaraderie, and gratitude. Tickets for this special event are currently for sale. The cost is $15.00 per individual ticket or $120.00 per table of 8.

❓Can we purchase sweatshis at school? A limited amount of our OLD style of pullovers will be available in limited sizes
❓What if I don’t order by 7/27? Another ordering window will open with delivery after the school year begins.
❓Will PE Clothes be offered online? Yes- but only after the school year begins. PE clothes will be available for order at Trist at this time.
❓Are the sweatpants and hats in the shop permissible in school? Hats are not for in-school wear at all. The sweatpants may be worn in PE class.

The STEAM Department at Nunez will offer more than 10 multi-day camps this summer for students in grades one through twelve.

Visit Nunez.edu/STEAM and submit a Steam Inquiry Form to begin the process of registering your student.

STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics. As such, each camp Nunez offers incorporates several of those fields in its curriculum, along with the social aspects of summer camp.

“Our summer camp program for students K-12 is designed to help students build their skills in STEAM related fields while having fun,” said Dr. Julie Rexford, Director of STEAM. “At the foundation of these skills, students learn to collaborate with their peers, critically think to solve various problems and communicate their findings.”

Calling all parents of students entering 1st-5th grade in August 2025! Sign your little ones up for STEAM Summer Camp at the Maumus Center this June! Campers will spend each day exploring, creating, learning and marveling at the wonders of science and art with their peers, including trips to the Maumus Center's Planetarium! Please note that space is limited and late registrations will NOT be accepted.

Where is camp? STEAM Camp is located at the Maumus Center and Planetarium, 721 Friscoville Avenue, Arabi

When in June does camp run, and how long is a session? Camp is split into four one week sessions throughout the month of June. You can register your child for any/all week(s) of camp, pending availability. Activities change each week!
Week 1—June 2 - 6
Week 2—June 9 - 13
Week 3—June 16 - 20
Week 4—June 23 - 27

What time does camp start and end each day? Camp starts at 8:00 A.M. and ends at 3:00 P.M. Please note that there will be no before or aftercare.

How much does STEAM Camp cost? Steam Camp is $175.00 per week. Acceptable payment methods are cash or money order and should be delivered to the School Board Office at 200 E. St. Bernard Hwy. Lunch and morning snacks are provided each day at camp.

What ages are eligible to participate in Camp?: Students entering 1st Grade through students entering 5th Grade can register for STEAM Camp.

How do I complete registration for my child and secure a spot at camp? Registration packets are available at your public school or at the St. Bernard Parish School Board Main Office, 200 East St. Bernard Hwy, between the hours of 9 A.M.- 3 P.M. Registration forms are also available online at https://www.sbpsb.org/for-community/maumus-center/summer-camp-registration . The form can be printed out or submitted digitally on the website. Reservations for camp are not complete until full payment is made and registration packet is completed.

STEAM Camp is OUT OF THIS WORLD and space is limited, so don’t hesitate to register your camper! The deadline to register for STEAM camp is Friday May 2nd. We can’t wait to see you there!

📣 important announcement! 📣

Greetings St. Bernard Parish Public School System Families!

We hope the first week back to school after the most incredible snowstorm is going well! We know the memories made will last a lifetime. And while we are truly grateful that our students were able to experience such a special event with their families and loved ones, our three days off last week, coupled with two Hurricane days in September, brought us to a total of 5 missed days this school year.

The state mandates a minimum number of instructional minutes per school year, and our five missed days put us over the allotted storm days that were built into our calendar. Because of this overage, we must make up some of the time we’ve lost.

From February 1st- March 31st, we will be adding 10 minutes to the end of each school day. This will not affect arrival times. Each school will begin at the same time it usually does each morning, and will dismiss ten minutes later than its typical dismissal time. By adding these ten instructional minutes to each school day for the next two months, we will satisfy the mandate by the state without lengthening the school year or taking away Holiday days. We know families have already made plans for these days, and we do not wish to disrupt those plans.

Thank you for your understanding, and for being such an important part of our school community. If you have any questions or concerns about this adjusted schedule, please feel free to reach out to your school’s front office and administration.
