At first, a Montessori classroom may look different from a traditional classroom.

There is no single place where all children are expected to face, no central teacher’s desk directing every moment, and no one fixed point where learning must begin.
Instead, the environment is carefully prepared to encourage purposeful movement, independent exploration, concentration, and discovery.

The teacher remains an essential part of the classroom, but as a guide and observer, helping children develop the confidence to become active participants in their own learning.
