In this week's Reverberation article, Isabel McNeill Carley observes, "One has only to look at the very first page of the first volume of the Schulwerk to be aware of the need for pre-Orff training." With this statement, she argues that starting at the beginning of the Music for Children volumes is not actually where learning begins. Highlighting the foundational skills and knowledge assumed from the very first page, Carley urges educators to "begin where the children are."
