It may be dead Monday today, but for most of our music students it’s jury day. Our music students have been putting in so much work this semester, so good luck to all of you! It’s been a fun semester, and we are so thankful for all of you and all you’ve done for the department. Have a great summer and hopefully we’ll see all of you and maybe some new faces in the fall!!

Joshua Fernau is a senior Music Education Major from Chadron, Nebraska. Josh chose music education not knowing if it was exactly what he wanted to do in the future. However, it did not take long for him to realize that teaching and sharing music was something he truly loved to do. Now he is excited to teach students how to play, sing, and enjoy the music around them. At Chadron State, Josh has been involved in the Eagle Drumline, Jazz Band, Wind Symphony, Eagle Pep Band, Concert Choir, Percussion Ensemble, and The Junkies Jazz Combo. His recital will be on May 4th in the Memorial Hall Auditorium at 3:00pm. We hope we’ll see you there!!

Join us in supporting the guitar ensemble at their concert this semester! The concert will be showing in the COIL Planetarium at 7 and 7:45pm on Friday, May 2nd. Please arrive early because seating is limited. We hope to see you there!

Karly Codr is a senior Music Education Major from Lincoln, Nebraska. Karly chose music education because she has always loved music and had great music teachers that inspired her to keep with it and to share that love of music with future students. Karly has been very involved in the music department, being a part of Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, the Eagle Pep Band, and Concert Choir. After she graduates, she hopes to teach music in Lincoln. Karly’s recital is a joint recital with Karina Johnson. The recital will take place in the Mari Sandoz Center Chicoine Atrium on May 3rd, 2025 at 3:00pm We hope to see you there!!

Karina Johnson is a senior Music Education Major from Sargent, Nebraska, Karina chose music education because she wants to share her love for music with her students and help them develop their own love for music. Karina has been very involved in our music department, being part of Wind Symphony, Jazz Band, Eagle Band, and Concert Choir. Upon graduation, Karina is excited to teach music and see what opportunities come her way. Karina’s recital is a joint recital with Karly Codr.
