Dear ABC Unified Families & Students,

As we head into a season filled with highly anticipated, major public events—including upcoming election cycles and massive global sports tournaments like the World Cup—our focus is on keeping our community connected and safe.

Major events like these bring out incredible excitement, but they also bring a sharp increase in digital scams. Cybercriminals frequently exploit public curiosity and a sense of urgency by sending phishing emails, fake news links, and deceptive text messages designed to look like official updates or breaking news.

To help protect our students, staff, and school networks, we ask everyone in the ABC Unified family to keep a few key safety practices in mind:

Pause Before You Click: Be highly cautious of unexpected emails, text messages, or social media links, especially those using urgent language regarding current news or event tickets.

Stick to Official Channels: For news and streaming updates, rely only on well-known, verified sources. Avoid clicking on unofficial streaming websites or unverified pop-ups.

Keep Devices for schoolwork: A quick reminder for our students that district-issued devices and networks are dedicated strictly for academic purposes. Avoiding non-school streaming and surfing on these devices drastically reduces our network's exposure to malware.

Report anything unusual immediately. If you notice a suspicious email, a strange login prompt, or unusual behavior on a district device, please email [email protected] or contact us at 562-689-7299. Quick reporting is our best defense in stopping a potential issue before it can cause any disruption to our classrooms.

On May 23rd, students from AHS, CHS, GHS, and WHS attended the Spirit of the Macy Awards. 60 schools were considered for their musicals in the 25-26 school year.

The Spirit of the Macy's is a National High School Theatre Awards program that is connected to the Lincoln Center in New York. It is supported by the Broadway League Foundation. This is the TONY awards for high school.
