Ruth Shyu Piano Studio

Instructions in classical and jazz piano for children and adults. Our focus is primarily classical piano performance.

All students undertake technical studies systematically to ensure a good technical foundation. Students are also offered a broad range of repertoire, from classical to jazz/pop as appropriate to cultivate interest. Students may also receive ear-training and music theory instructions as appropriate for their individual developmental needs. Most students at the studio maintain a high degree of inter

est in their musical study, and are confident in performing. Students are always encouraged, but never forced, to participate in recitals and competitions. Students at the studio have won prizes and honorable mentions at MTAC, MMTA and NEPTA piano competitions. The majority of students who took piano/theory examinations have passed with Distinction or Merit. The studio works with CM, ABRSM and RCM exams.

One of my students made it into her school's jazz band. It's a 20-member band, with only one pianist. Eight pianists auditioned for the position, and my student was chosen. I'm very proud of her!
