consideration.

MGT has prepared additional boundary maps based on the Board discussion, as follow:

completed.
Mrs. Yoo thanked the consultant for the presentation. She indicated the Measure BB money can be more efficiently used for the remaining schools. She shared the idea to research ways to creatively market the schools so families will want to attend the student's resident schools as well as families from outside the District.
Mrs. Mendoza inquired and discussed the boundary changes, the school of choice program, and balancing the enrollment numbers.
Mr. Nishii inquired and discussed the renovations at the schools, when they will be completed, and balancing enrollment numbers at the schools.
Mrs. Yokoyama Bui discussed the boundary lines in neighborhoods, capacity of the schools, and the programs that will be moving to different schools.
Dr. Rios discussed the boundary line and having students cross a large intersection.
Mr. Noyola discussed the capacity at the schools, boundary lines, the students who walk to school , and needing to cross a large intersection.
Mr. Nishii commented on the boundary lines and seeking community input.
Mrs. Yoo recommended moving forward with the boundaries the consultant provided.
Mr. Noyola commented on the boundary lines and students walking to school or taking a bus and possibly creating a barrier for them to come to school.
Dr . Rios commented that the decision should not be rushed. Dr. Zietlow indicated the timelines for schools of choice and the decision to wait would not help the families.
Mr. Nishii inquired if the decision could be made at the first meeting in August. Mr. Nguyen reviewed and discussed the options for future consideration by the Board at another Board
Meeting.
Mrs. Mendoza commented on needing more time to make an informed decision and wait until the next Board Meeting. Mr. Noyola asked for a second to table the item until the June 16 Board Meeting . School districts receive funding from different sources: state funds under the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), other state funds, local funds, and federal funds. The LCFF gives school districts more flexibility in deciding how to use state funds. In exchange, school districts must work with parents, educators, students, and the
community to develop a Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) that shows how the funds are used to serve students.
