I am retired after 24 years of teaching: 7 teaching 4th grade in private school and 17 teaching Drama at Whitmore Charter. So many students, so many great people to work with, and so many families that made these years very rich. It is my hope that all of the hard work and performance experiences will spark a continued interest and appreciation of the arts throughout their lives. It has been an honor. Thank you.
As you see, the High School teachers gave me the most fun send off! Honks, Venmo’s from former work colleagues, former students, even people rolling down their window to hand me cash! Heya WCSAT families. I hope you are having a great summer. I am working on an article for an arts-education magazine (SchoolArts) about a project our rising 2nd graders worked on last year (when they were in 1st grade). I would LOVE to send their artwork to the publisher for inclusion in the article, but I need written permission from their guardians. If you are have a rising 2nd grader, please check and see if your students artwork below. The collaborative, skittles portrait of George Lucas is finished and is on display in the front office. All students in grades k-5th helped glue down skittles. The middle school Art students were the masterminds (doing all the necessary planning and math), and many of the high school Art students helped too!!

Check out these EPIC animations made by the 3rd Graders! This was a very large, multi-step program. First, they had to edit away the green screen from a photo of themselves in Pixlr. Second, they had to import their portrait into a photo of an astronaut and fit their face inside the suit (still in Pixlr). Third, they had to turn in their still astronaut photo to me for a print, Fourth, they imported their astronaut photo into PiskelApp and animated it. So, so, so proud of these awesome students!
