💧 CKMS FAMILY PSA — WATER BOTTLE GUIDELINES
CKMS Families,
We want to make you aware of an adjustment we are making regarding student water bottles.
Recently, we have experienced a significant increase in students asking to leave class throughout the day to refill, locate, or retrieve water bottles. Large metal bottles have also increasingly become a classroom distraction when they are dropped, knocked over, or otherwise interfere with instruction.
Our goal is not to prevent students from having water. Our goal is to protect instructional time and keep our students in class learning.
Moving forward, the following water bottle guidelines will be in place at CKMS:
💧 Students may bring one clear, plastic, leakproof water bottle no larger than 24 ounces.
💧 Water only should be kept in student water bottles.
🚫 Metal and oversized bottles/tumblers, including Stanley, Owala, Yeti, and similar containers, will not be permitted.
💧 Students should arrive at first period with their water bottle filled.
⏰ Bottles may be refilled before school, between classes, during lunch, and after school. Students will not leave class to refill a water bottle.
🔎 Lost or misplaced water bottles will not be retrieved during instructional time. Students may look for or retrieve them after dismissal.
📚 Water bottles must be used appropriately and may not become a distraction or disruption to the educational environment.
❤️ Appropriate exceptions will always be made for students with documented medical or disability-related needs in accordance with applicable health plans, IEPs, Section 504 plans, and state/federal requirements.
We appreciate our families' support as we work to reduce unnecessary interruptions, protect valuable instructional time, and keep our students where they need to be — in the classroom learning.
