It’s been a busy first two weeks of the school year!

Students are getting settled into their classes, meeting their instructors, and already diving into some pretty creative projects.

In Ciera Kline’s Graphic Design class, students recently finished their paper portrait projects! Using only construction paper, along with a few marker and pencil details, students created some seriously impressive portraits.

Along the way, Ciera had students focus on layering and planning their ideas before getting started, important skills that will carry into so many of the projects ahead.

We’re excited to see where their creativity takes them next!

Barkley made a stop in Mendon!🤖🐕

Our CTE Mobile Lab visited Mendon Jr./Sr. High School on Monday, giving 7th and 8th grade students a chance to explore different areas of manufacturing.

Students got to check out 3D printing, welding, robotics, and more, including a visit from Barkley, our Robo-Dog!

It was a fun opportunity for students to get hands-on with the technology, tools, and skills used in today’s manufacturing careers and see just how many possibilities are out there!

Big things are happening in St. Joseph County CTE at Glen Oaks Community College (GOCC)!

Yesterday, students from our Aviation, Automotive Technology, Public Safety, and Digital Media CTE programs participated in a campus orientation. The event featured encouraging remarks from GOCC President Dr. Newton, Vice President Dr. Cloutier, and Dr. Birch. Mr. TJ Baker provided information on campus safety and security, while our Executive Director of CTE, Lucas Schrauben, and CTE Coordinator, Jennifer Yesh, gave an overview of the opportunities available to the students.

Dr. Newton, along with other dedicated GOCC staff, continues to make a tremendous investment in the safety, success, and overall experience of our CTE students. We are grateful for their continued partnership and commitment to helping our students thrive!

These students are getting a head start on their futures by training hands-on for high-demand, high-wage careers while still in high school. Through their CTE programs, they can earn industry-recognized certifications and college credit while completing high school graduation requirements.

We are proud of these students for taking advantage of these valuable opportunities and excited to see where their CTE experiences take them! The sky is the limit!

Big congratulations to Jaden Zambrano!

We’re so proud to see one of our CTE students taking the next step toward his career! Jaden was recently sworn in as a Corrections Deputy with the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office.

From the CTE classroom to the real world, it’s pretty awesome to see our students putting their skills into action and taking those first steps toward their careers!

Congratulations, Jaden! We’re excited to see where this next chapter takes you!

We're celebrating some exciting milestones for our Work-Based Learning students!

Congratulations to Blake Luegge and Jak Monroe on completing their Registered Apprenticeship Training with Armstrong International! Through hard work, dedication, and hands-on experience, they've taken an exciting step forward in their career journeys. We're so proud of their accomplishments!

We're also excited to celebrate Collin Balk and David Wills, who officially signed on to begin working at Armstrong this summer. We can't wait to see them continue building their skills and growing in their careers!

At CTE, we believe the best learning happens through doing. These students are putting what they've learned in their CTE programs into action through valuable on-the-job training, where they can earn while they learn.

A huge thank you to Armstrong International for investing in our students and providing opportunities that help prepare the next generation of skilled professionals.

Congratulations to all four students! Keep learning, keep growing, and keep chasing your goals!

Yesterday, a few of our Aviation students had an incredible experience touring the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport and RAI Jets! Students got a behind-the-scenes look at airport operations, explored private aircraft up close, and learned more about exciting careers in the aviation industry.

A special thank you to our Aviation instructor, Helen Figurski, for arranging this fun opportunity for our students!
