Letter from the Director:

Here are 3 daycare licensing facts that parents often have questions or concerns about:

So let me explain:

Licensed childcare facilities are required to send children home with vomiting. It does not matter whether is is believed that the child is vomiting because they ate too much, that they ate something bad, that they are teething, etc. The child cannot return until they have been 24 hours without vomiting. This is because there could be an underlying illness that could be contagious and make others sick in the childcare setting.

Licensed childcare facilities are required to send children home after 3 bouts of diarrhea. It does not matter whether is is believed that the child has diarrhea due to antibiotics, teething, something they ate, etc. The child cannot return until they have been 24 hours without diarrhea. This is because there could be an underlying illness that could be contagious and make others sick in the childcare setting.

Licensed childcare facilities are required to send children home with fevers. It does not matter whether it is believed that the fever is related to shots, teething, allergies, etc. The child cannot be in a childcare center if they have a fever. They must stay home until the child has been 24 hours fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication. This is because there could be an underlying illness that could be contagious and make others sick in the childcare setting.

These come directly from childcare Licensing and are in place to prevent the spread of illness. There is no grey area in these regulations. If they have any of these 3 symptoms, they MUST go home.

There are obviously other reasons/illnesses that may require a child to be picked up or that require the child to stay at home. However, these are the BIG 3 that childcare centers have to address on a regular basis.

Day 3 of Travel to different times, we went to medieval time! They put on their armor and slayed the dragon. They also made their own Knight banners.

This week's theme is Travel to different times. Day 1 was Wild West! We played Ring the Bull's Horn, put on our bandanas and and vests. We also found out some of our kiddos were Wanted by the law with $100,000 reward!
