Centralia FBLA

Kansas FBLA faced intense competition, and unfortunately, none of our Centralia FBLA members placed. We spent our last day at the Alamo and the Riverwalk, before loading up on the charter bus to head home. We drove through the night and are almost home. Huge shout out to Sara Kramer and Mindy Olberding for getting us to and from Topeka to meet the bus!

Picture download from the last few days. Monday started the competition, and the day ended with the opening ceremony. Students studied, competed, attended workshops, and presented or tested in their events. We spent time at the Riverwalk, attended a rodeo, and explored downtown San Antonio. Tonight is closing ceremony and awards, and we will head back to Kansas.

End of year bus cleaning is one of our main fundraisers. Members who qualify for nationals are required to help, and we ask other members to volunteer their time. Thank you to the 15 members that showed up to help clean the buses! Your help was appreciated!

These students will receive a $25 Amazon gift card. In addition, the office of the Kansas State Treasurer, Steven Johnson, would like to help each of your students with their post-K-12 educational goals by providing $100 in funding into a 529 plan. Finally, their posters will be displayed at the state capital in Topeka, Kansas next school year. Congratulations!

The Career Discussion Day was fantastic! We had a diverse group of careers represented, and great discussion and advice from panelists. So grateful for speakers like Aaron coming back to help us out!

Put this on the bucket list of things I would have never expected as an 18 year old getting ready to graduate from a small NE Kansas High school 35 years ago. Thank you Misty Poe and the Centralia High School for the invitation and opportunity!

Josh Bowers and Bryce Burdiek (SBS Insurance) came to talk with financial literacy students about insurance. We had a great discussion, and Josh and Bryce answered a lot of questions. Thanks for coming in!

Jill Stringer with Eschenbach Optik was a guest speaker in our Investing class. Last semester Business Communication students wrote formal business letters to their favorite companies. Hunter Schober wrote to Jill about how his favorite item is his Eschenbach hand held magnifier. Our class got to ask questions about the Eschenbach business and Jill's job. They also got to try out lots of devices. Hunter was gifted with an Eschenbach hat and sweatshirt, as well as a magnifier. Jill and Eschenbach Optik - thank you for visiting our class!

Caylie McKee, Isabella Hipp, Erin Smith and Max Walters competed in the National Finance Challenge at Wichita State University. They had 2 hours to complete a case study in which they took on the role of financial advisors and presented to the panel of judges their financial proposal. They represented Centralia well!

Kaylee Olberding started her duties this weekend as the Kansas FBLA District VII Vice President. She and the other members of the state officer team discussed budget items, finalized the calendar for the upcoming year, and assigned duties for the Summer Leadership Conference this summer.
