Rod, Began Training in Karate & Judo in 1984 with a background in wrestling. He started training with the Quincy IL, Shoshinkan dojo in 1991 under Pam & Mark Haubrick, Tay Sonethekam and Tim Winters, students of Mejin, William Stockey, the founder of ShoshinKan. The Quincy Dojo is still going strong today with nearly a dozen black belts assisting with instruction and training. Rod is now a long time black belt and certified instructor for Shoshinkan Sogo Budo Renmei. He had a dojo open for 4 years in Springfield, IL teaching students and families from ages 8 to 80. After relocating to Arkansas he became a certified volunteer wrestling coach for youth and High School wrestling. He coached several all state wrestlers at the youth and High School levels during his time in Arkansas. Assistant; Michael Gray is 2nd dan Black belt in ShoshinKan Karate and a 1st dan in Kenpo Karate. Shoshinkan Sogo Budo Karate of Centralia now has four more 1st dan black belts assisting with instruction.
