Centralia R-VI Schools

Centralia R-VI Schools Centralia R-VI Public School District is located in the northeast corner of Boone County and western portions of Audrain County.

There are approximately 1350 students that attend 4 different campuses composed of seven buildings housing a preschool, elementary, intermediate, middle school, high school, vocational sciences, and alternative school. All of the buildings are located in Centralia, which is the major urban center for the district.

As our Panthers head back to school, please slow down and stay alert. There will be kids walking and riding bikes before and after school, and buses will be loading and unloading throughout the morning and afternoon.

A few reminders:
🚸 Watch for children walking and biking near schools and neighborhoods
🚌 Stop for buses with flashing lights — it’s the law
🔍 Keep your eyes up and your focus on the road

The CHS Cheerleaders are hosting a Football Mini Cheer Clinic for students in Kindergarten–5th grade!

🗓️ August 29th | 9:00 AM–12:00 PM
📍 Chance Elementary Gym
💵 $25 (includes instruction, t-shirt & snack)

Participants will learn a cheer, chant, and dance — then perform LIVE at the Varsity Football game on September 11th! 🏈📣

First-day jitters are real — for kids AND parents! Here are a few tips to help everyone start the year on a good note:

FOR THE KIDS 🎒
✅ Talk about what to expect the night before so there are no surprises
✅ Pick out your outfit and pack your backpack ahead of time
✅ Know that it's okay to feel nervous — even your teacher is a little excited and nervous too!
✅ Practice the morning routine a day or two before school starts

FOR THE PARENTS ❤️
✅ Keep your morning calm and unhurried — kids pick up on your energy
✅ Say a confident goodbye — long, drawn-out goodbyes can make anxiety worse
✅ Trust the teachers — they do this every year, and they've got your kids!
✅ Remember that a few tears on day one is okay

FOR EVERYONE 👏
✅ Get to bed early the night before
✅ Eat a good breakfast
✅ And don't forget to take the photo! 📸

🎉 Meet Mrs. Jenna Wasden!

Mrs. Wasden is joining CHS as our new Science teacher, and we couldn't be more excited to welcome her to Centralia! She came to teaching with a clear purpose — to be a catalyst for good in the lives of her students.

She and her husband, Cam, are brand new to Missouri — they made the move this summer. Welcome to the Show-Me State! 🌻

Her advice for students? You can do hard things when you practice and work hard. Her desk snack situation is very specific, and we respect it — Coconut Dr. Pepper and sour candy. 🍬 Oh, and her favorite movie is Megamind, which honestly makes complete sense for a science teacher.
