They built grills and charcoal starters using MIG welding and brake pressing. At the end of the day they got to try their hand at some stick welding as well.

June 3 - For the Girls

A very, very long story short- we are moving the location of the sprinkler system for the cows (I’ll talk about that later).

They showed up yesterday morning and a 20-something girl hopped out of the truck. I was immediately mad. They sent a girl to pass them tools, at least that is what I thought.

NOPE. She was the WELDER.

Let me repeat. She was the welder. SHE was here to do the work.

To say that I was both humbled and impressed is an understatement. Our girls watched her work. I watched her work. I wish I would have taken her picture but I didn’t want to be creepy. I hope she sees this and knows she made a small impact on a couple of young girls.

The Kaskaskia College Welding Class spent Tuesday and Thursday at Sandoval high school. The students replaced the top rail of the guard around the backside of the school and made guards for all of the drains around the baseball field and school. It was a good project to get students some real world experience and help neighboring schools.
