📚✨ Here we go, D6 families!

The 2026–27 school year is almost here, and Superintendent Walt Davenport has a welcome-back message for our students, families, staff, and community.

We’re excited for another year of learning, growing, connecting, and yes… trying to remember where we put the lunch boxes back in June. 😄🎒

Welcome back, D6. We’re so glad to begin another school year together. ❤️

Fire Crew Demobilization @ Sams Valley Elementary

Dear Parents and Community Members,

Good afternoon! We hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer.

To support the Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) and its ongoing response to the East Evans Creek Fire, the school district has agreed to allow Sams Valley Elementary School to serve as a Fire Crew Demobilization and Check-Out Center over the next week.

During this time, you may notice an increased presence of fire personnel and emergency vehicles entering and exiting the school campus from early morning through late evening. The use of the school by ODF will not impact our Summer Food Service Program, and measures are being taken to minimize the effects of the increased traffic in the area.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and support as we assist our firefighting partners during this critical time. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the dedicated firefighters and emergency personnel working tirelessly on the East Evans Creek Fire, as well as the many other wildfires affecting our region and communities across Oregon.

Thank you and have a safe and enjoyable remainder of your summer.

Even during summer break, learning, growing, and big opportunities are still happening in D6! ☀️🎤

Crater Speech & Debate has returned from its 10th consecutive appearance at the National Speech & Debate Tournament, held this year in Richmond, Virginia.

Our students faced challenging competition from across the country while also experiencing history firsthand through visits to the U.S. Capitol, Colonial Williamsburg, and more. 🇺🇸✨

A huge thank you to every supporter and sponsor who helped make this unforgettable trip possible for these deserving qualifiers. We are so proud of the way they represented Crater and D6 on the national stage! 🧡🖤

Today was Mr. Bjorge’s last day after teaching in D6 since 1996, and Patrick Elementary did what they do best… showed up with HEART (and glasses… and beards 😉).

From tiny “Mini-Bjorges” to full-on “Bjorge Farewell Tour” looks, our kids and staff celebrated a teacher who made learning an adventure and made students feel seen.

Mr. Bjorge, thank you for the laughs, the stories, and the years of dedication. Enjoy every minute of retirement—you’ve earned it. 💙🐾✨

Last week of school = peak magic ✨🎉

Mae Richardson brought the fun with a classic: kids vs. staff — and let’s just say… the students showed up READY. 😄🙌
📣 Winner: 5th Grade!
Unofficial score: 20–18 kids (but who’s counting? 😉)

Nothing like sunshine, cheers, and a little friendly competition to wrap up the year the right way. 💚
