The SCO shows up for our kids OVER and OVER and OVER! Even on a Sunday, they were here to continue the garden renovation. This renovation started in the Spring when Lowe’s chose us for a “Home Town Heroes” project. Lowe’s donated a ton of garden materials and sent a crew to help us replace our broken down garden beds. The SCO has been continuing what Lowe’s started for us and our school couldn’t be more grateful for this group of individuals that makes our kids a priority! Thank you Lowe’s Home Improvement and thank you SCO for time, money and effort! Our garden education matters at SVE and this is so incredibly supportive of our needs! We appreciate you!

Riley Hathaway is an Eagle Scout who worked on a project specifically for our school. He has been in Boy Scouts for over 12 years and chose Sams Valley Elementary as the place for his project to help others. He made this picnic table and benches to support our students during recess or during PE time out by the field. Not only did he build, he also planned carefully and was able to get all the materials donated by Hughes Lumber!

As his former kindergarten teacher, I couldn't be more proud of the young man he has become. I have seen him turn into a shy little 5 year old boy to a strong, determined, high school senior who isn't afraid of hard work! He supports his community and displays the character traits we all hope for in our young people.

This is truly a special gift to our school made by a special student! Thank you to both Riley Hathaway and Hughes Lumber for supporting Sams Valley Elementary!
