IMPORTANT ALERT 🚨
Dear Parents and Guardians:
The Central Islip School District is committed to keeping our students, families, and community informed of incidents that may impact student safety.
On Friday, October 2, 2026, the Suffolk County Police Department was notified of reports involving an unknown individual who approached students at two separate bus stop locations along Joshuas Path. According to the reports, an older dark-skinned male approached students and repeatedly stated, "Come with me." The students did not comply and immediately removed themselves from the situation. No injuries were reported, and no students were physically harmed.
The incident was reported to law enforcement, and the Suffolk County Police Department is investigating. District administrators are working closely with law enforcement and have informed school personnel of the reports.
While this incident remains under investigation, we encourage all families to review personal safety practices with their children and reinforce the following important reminders:
• Never approach, engage in conversation with, or accompany a stranger for any reason.
• If approached by an unknown individual, move immediately to a safe location and seek assistance from a trusted adult.
• Travel to and from school, bus stops, and activities with friends or groups whenever possible.
• Remain aware of your surroundings and avoid distractions when walking to and from school or the bus stop.
• Report any suspicious individuals, vehicles, or activities to a parent, guardian, school official, or law enforcement immediately.
• If a situation feels unsafe, trust your instincts and call 911.
The safety and well-being of our students remains our highest priority. We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these important safety messages at home and encourage you to speak with your children about what to do if they encounter a stranger or experience any situation that makes them uncomfortable.
